I am color blind

IWM's picture

It wasn't until lately that I have come to notice that there was something wrong with my vision. Aside from the fact that I can't see clearly from a certain distance where a normal person could see, I also have a hard time distinguishing certain colors. There were times that S.C. and I often argue about the color of a certain object. I am pretty sure I am seeing green, but she insists everybody knows it's yellow. Sometimes I see red as brown, maroon as black, or even yellow-green as yellow.

Later on, she tried to administer a simple color blind test to me. As she flashed each image, I tried leaning back and leaning forward in an attempt to see what number or letter was being shown. I knew I can't see anything but I tried to trick her by looking at the image's title at the upper left of the screen and proudly recited each answer without an effort. I was grinning but at the back of my mind, I knew something was wrong with my vision.

Later that day, I went home, still couldn't believe that I'm color blind. I asked my friend to flash me another set of images and I really sucked at it. I scored 2 out of 20! Now I am convinced that I really am color blind. I came up with this test and it said that the probability of my color blindness is 73%! As to the type of colorblindness, I don't know. Deuteranopia, protanopia, tritanopie, deuteranomalia, protanomalia, tritanomalia, or God knows what other opias and malias there are. One thing's for sure, I can't easily distinguish red and green shades. I also found out that red/green color blindness is the most common type.

Here is my result:

The test for color blindness in medicine is the Ishihara Test for Color Blindness...one example is here>>>http://colorvisiontesting.com/ishihara.htm. Those interested please take the test and try this one. See an ophthalmologist for problem.

I got it all correct also..hehe..
I remember when i had my medical exam sa work..ng-undergo nito..i was able to see the numbers but had a hard time coz flash cards sya and ang bilis ng transition nung doktor..d ko pa nasasabi yung number, nilipat na agad..hehehehe..

Naalala ko pa.. have you tried the 3d stereograms where there is an abstract picture and there's a 3d image inside it?

check this out...let's see if you could reveal the 3d..

Pero nalito lang ako kasi hindi definite o consistent yung definition nila sa ibang colors like beige, pink, etc.

TRIVIA: John Dalton, the scientist known for the Atomic Theory was colorblind (red-green). However, he used to think that it was caused by the presence of a dye that prevented him from seeing green(Source: Chemical Chaos). Now it is understood as a lack of pigment.
